Youth Development

Sustainable Youth Development (YD) SDG 8 Decent work and Economic growth

Ghana has a youthful population, with a significant proportion of its citizens under the age of 35. While this demographic presents great potential for national development, many young people face challenges such as unemployment, limited access to skills training, social vulnerability, and reduced opportunities for leadership and civic participation. Without adequate support systems, these challenges can hinder young people from reaching their full potential and contributing meaningfully to their communities.

The Sustainable Youth Development programme of Africa Initiative for Development (AID) aims to empower young people with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities they need to thrive socially and economically. The programme focuses on youth leadership development, vocational and entrepreneurial training, mentorship, life skills education, and civic engagement initiatives. It also promotes innovation, community service, and responsible citizenship among young people.

AID works closely with schools, youth groups, international organizations, and local institutions to create supportive environments where young people can develop their talents and pursue productive livelihoods. By investing in youth empowerment and leadership, the programme seeks to harness the energy, creativity, and potential of Ghana’s youth to drive sustainable community development and long-term national progress.
