Primary & Community Healthcare
Primary and Community Healthcare (PH) SDG 3 Good health and wellbeing
Access to quality primary healthcare remains essential for improving the well-being and productivity of communities in Ghana. Although the country has made progress in expanding health services through initiatives such as the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) system, many communities still face barriers to healthcare access, including inadequate facilities, limited health education, and shortages of essential medical resources.Â
The Primary and Community Healthcare programme of Africa Initiative for Development (AID) focuses on strengthening community-level health systems and promoting preventive healthcare practices. The programme supports health education campaigns, community health outreach services, maternal and child health initiatives, and the provision of basic medical supplies to underserved communities. It also promotes awareness on issues such as nutrition, sanitation, disease prevention, and mental health.
