Education Advocacy and Development (EAD)
- Education, Advocacy and Development (EAD): Key activities-
- Promoting Positive Discipline via SEL in schools
Africa Initiative for Development champions the integration of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) to foster positive discipline in schools. By equipping teachers and students with skills in empathy, self-awareness, and responsible decision-making, we create nurturing learning environments where discipline is rooted in respect rather than punishment. This approach strengthens student-teacher relationships, reduces conflict, and empowers young learners to thrive academically and socially. Our goal is to build schools that model compassion, resilience, and mutual accountability, preparing children for success in life and leadership.
- Healing Hurting Hearts (focused on victims of abuse)
Africa Initiative for Development provides compassionate support for victims of sexual and emotional abuse through our Healing Hurting Hearts program. We create safe spaces for survivors to share their experiences, access counseling, and rebuild confidence. By combining psychosocial care with community awareness, we work to break the silence around abuse and promote healing, resilience, and dignity. Our mission is to restore hope and empower survivors to reclaim their lives and thrive.
- School Rehabilitation: Infirmary, Canteen and library
Africa Initiative for Development is committed to revitalizing schools by restoring essential facilities that support learning and well-being. Through the rehabilitation of canteens, infirmaries, and libraries, we ensure students have access to nutritious meals coupled with safe environment, basic healthcare, and enriched learning resources. These improvements create safe, supportive, and inspiring environments where children can thrive academically, socially, and physically. Our goal is to strengthen schools as centers of growth, resilience, and opportunity for every child.
WASH and Climate (WC)
Water4Life Project (Restoring Access to Water, Reviving Livelihoods)
The Water4Life Project focuses on restoring reliable access to safe and clean water in underserved communities through the rehabilitation of boreholes, installation of water systems, and community water management training. By improving water availability, the project reduces the burden of long-distance water collection, improves hygiene and sanitation, and supports livelihoods such as small-scale farming and local businesses that depend on water.
- Toilet Rehabilitation Project (Redesigning and Renovating Toilets for Gender Equality)
This project involves renovating and redesigning existing toilet facilities in schools and communities to ensure they are safe, hygienic, and gender-sensitive. The initiative promotes separate facilities for males and females, improved accessibility for persons with disabilities, proper waste management, and enhanced privacy. The project aims to improve sanitation, dignity, and school attendance, particularly for girls.
- LPG4Gari Project (Transition from Firewood to LPG)
The LPG4Gari Project promotes the transition from traditional firewood use to Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for gari (cassava flakes) processing. By introducing cleaner cooking technology and training processors in its use, the project reduces deforestation, indoor air pollution, and health risks for women. It also improves processing efficiency and supports climate-friendly livelihoods.
- Solar Irrigation for Sustainable Farming Project
This project introduces solar-powered irrigation systems to support smallholder farmers, enabling year-round farming while reducing dependence on rainfall and fossil fuels. The use of renewable energy lowers production costs, increases crop yields, and strengthens climate resilience in farming communities.
Sustainable Youth Development (YD)
- Skills Development Project (TVET and Entrepreneurship Training)
This project equips young people with practical and marketable skills through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and entrepreneurship development. It provides training in various trades, business management, and financial literacy to enhance employability and promote self-employment. The initiative aims to reduce youth unemployment, empower young people to start sustainable businesses, and contribute to local economic growth.
- Street2Dream Project (Apprenticeship for Street Hawkers)
The Street2Dream Project supports vulnerable youth, particularly street hawkers, by providing structured apprenticeship opportunities in skilled trades. The project identifies girls between 15 to 25 years interested in apprentinceship, links them with experienced artisans and vocational centers, and provides mentorship and basic support to help them transition from street hawking to skilled livelihoods. The initiative seeks to reduce youth vulnerability, promote dignity in work, and create pathways for long-term economic independence.
Primary and Community Healthcare (PH)
- Health Education & Advocacy
This initiative focuses on promoting preventive healthcare through community-based health education and awareness campaigns. The project provides information on hygiene, nutrition, disease prevention, maternal and child health, and healthy lifestyles. Through community outreach, workshops, and school programs, it empowers individuals and families to make informed health decisions and adopt practices that improve overall well-being.
- Training for Community Health Volunteers
This project strengthens community healthcare systems by training local volunteers to support basic health services and awareness in underserved areas. Community Health Volunteers are equipped with knowledge and practical skills to provide health education, identify common health concerns, support referrals to health facilities, and assist with community health campaigns. This helps bridge the gap between communities and formal healthcare services.
- Early Childhood Development and Health
This initiative promotes the healthy growth and development of children during their early years. It focuses on improving child nutrition, immunization awareness, early learning stimulation, and parental education. By supporting caregivers and communities with knowledge and resources, the project aims to ensure that children have a healthy foundation for physical, cognitive, and social development.
